Micah Parsons hasn't been on the Dallas Cowboys for almost a year, but the fallout from his departure still lingers. That's why the latest update on Parsons' recovery from the torn ACL he suffered late last season is noteworthy, even if he's now in Green Bay.
The 27-year-old was placed on the PUP list by the Green Bay Packers to start training camp, which has him in line to be sidelined for the first four games of the season. And that's a pretty generous timeline, which begs the question of whether he'll be ready in time to return against his old team in Week 6.
While appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, Packers beat reporter Matt Schneidman of The Athletic revealed he thinks it's a possibility. He mentioned that Green Bay has a strict nine-month no football rule after ACL tears, and considering Micah also tore his meniscus, the narratives around his return are again resurfacing.
"The Packers have a strict nine-month no football rule after ACL tears, and Micah's wasn't even a clean ACL tear," Schneidman said. "He had a meniscus injury too, so he had to get that repaired. So the earliest we'll see him on the field, even on the practice field, is September 30th. That would be nine months and one day after his surgery."

Schneidman noted that Parsons didn't even undergo surgery until December 29, so late September is a fair estimate for the first time we'll see him on the practice field. And he seems to believe that a Week 6 return when the Cowboys and Packers face off on Sunday Night Football seems feasible, meaning he'll miss approximately the first month-and-a-half of 2026.
"If we think he needs a couple weeks to get ramped up, he's probably going to return Week 6 here at Lambeau, Sunday Night Football, against who? The Dallas Cowboys."
The storyline writes itself. The Cowboys heading to Lambeau Field under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football, with another Parsons revenge game in full force? There's no way that's not the league's preferred outcome, but considering they're not trying to rush him back, this one feels up in the air.
Here's what we must realize: Parsons and the Packers will take on the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football in Week 3, and the long period of rest between their Week 3 and 4 matchups is right in line with when he'll be nine months removed from his surgery and likely return to practice.
As long as the five-time Pro Bowler makes good progress in the practices in the two weeks leading up to this Week 6 matchup, it's not insane to suggest that Schneidman's insight is right and Micah Parsons does return against the Cowboys, although we would prefer him to miss this revenge game.
