After three weeks of practice in Oxnard, two preseason games on the West Coast, and a preseason finale inside the friendly confines of AT&T Stadium, the time has come for the Dallas Cowboys to finalize their 53-man roster for the upcoming season.
The next time the Cowboys take the field will be Sept. 13 in East Rutherford, where they'll lock horns with the division rival New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.
All 32 teams must slash their 90-man rosters down to 53 before Sunday's 5 p.m. CT deadline. With so many roster moves to keep track of, consider this your one-stop shop for every notable transaction the Cowboys make this weekend.

Notable Cowboys cuts
Reddy Steward - CB
Steward was arguably the Cowboys' most consistent defensive back last season. Sure, that's not saying much, but he stepped up in a big way. The numbers don't bear that out, but if you watched Dallas' defense every Sunday, you know Steward was a regular standout.
The Cowboys surely would like to get him back on the practice squad, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he catches on elsewhere.
Phil Mafah - RB
The writing was on the wall after Mafah only received one carry in the preseason game. Unsurprisingly, he saw all the work he could handle in Friday's finale, which painted a pretty clear picture of his standing in the running back room.
Expect Mafah to sign back to Dallas' practice squad once he (presumably) clears waivers. He may not have made the initial 53, but something tells us his time as a Cowboy isn't over.
Michael Trigg - TE
Trigg flashed in Dallas' first preseason game, but a toe injury derailed all of his momentum. Not that he had a strong chance to make the 53-man roster, but a jaw-dropping preseason may have convinced Brian Schottenheimer and Co. to keep a fourth tight end.
Per Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys have "plans" to sign Trigg to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Jaydon Blue - RB
By far, the biggest surprise of the day. Blue entered training camp as the No. 2 behind Javonte Williams, but never took the bull by the horns. Malik Davis passed him on the depth chart, and he failed to separate himself from Phil Mafah and Israel Abanikanda.
Blue could have added another dimension to Dallas' offense, but clearly, the coaching staff isn't ready to trust him. And who can blame them?
Sam Williams - OLB
While a notable cut, Sam Williams' departure is hardly a surprise. He struggled to make an impact this summer and was clearly leapfrogged on the depth chart by Tyrus Wheat.
In fact, Williams likely sat behind Marist Liufau in the pecking order as well. Liufau was a popular inclusion on most 53-man roster projections before fracturing his forearm in the preseason finale.
A second-round pick in 2022, Williams departs Dallas having tallied 85 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and 20 quarterback hits in 49 appearances (five starts) across three seasons.
Julius Wood - S
A fan favorite for many Cowboys diehards, Wood was likely one of the harder cuts Dallas had to make. Always playing like his hair's on fire, Wood turned in a strong training camp and preseason. He's a candidate to be back on the practice squad, but a lack of special teams impact and concerns about his ability to hold up in coverage are ultimately why he missed out.
Potential waiver wire targets from around the NFL
Kani Walker - CB (Bills)
The reaction out of Buffalo tells you all you need to know about Walker. Ryan Talbot of Syracuse.com called the decision to waive Walker a "stunner." The undrafted rookie has been offered a spot on the Bills' practice squad if he clears waivers, but Dallas should make Buffalo regret giving the rest of the league a chance to steal him away.
By all accounts, Walker had a fantastic training camp and preseason. According to PFF, he allowed just three catches for 20 yards on eight targets in coverage. He intercepted a pass and finished with a 45.8 passer rating allowed.
The Cowboys may defer to CBs with experience, but Walker is absolutely worth a look for the CB4 role.
