Dak Prescott knows exactly how it feels to be nearly betrayed by his own front office. After all, he had to wait until just hours before the Dallas Cowboys kicked off against the Browns in Week 1 of last season to sign his new contract. Even though a deal finally got done, it was frustrating for Cowboys fans to watch their starting quarterback go through a gauntlet just to get re-signed.
As the face of the team, Prescott is starting to relate to every Cowboys fan who's praying for a Micah Parsons deal to happen. Prescott took to the media after Thursday's practice and answered some questions about Parsons' contract saga. For the first time publicly, Dak didn't hold back.
“He wants to be out there practicing, and I’m glad he’s not... I don’t know if there’s a correct way to handle it, to be honest with you,” Prescott said.
Dak Prescott spoke the truth about the Cowboys' Micah Parsons contract standoff
If QB1 is public about it then Jones should have no choice but to listen. Unfortunately, even Prescott might not be enough to influences the Joneses. After all, he didn't get his own extension until hours before kickoff last season.
If Prescott and CeeDee Lamb aren't safe from a drawn-out negotiation, Parsons definitely isn't. After Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt have already inked market-shaping extensions, Parsons is still looking for what could be a record-breaking contract of his own. Jerry Jones didn't make things any easier by falsely accusing Parsons of missing six games when he only missed four last year.

While Cowboys fans are animated about Parsons not getting a deal, they might as well buckle up for what could be another long next few weeks until Parsons gets extended. Parsons has only been doing light activities so far, and it's almost a comedic, direct response to Jerry Jones and his fear of his defensive star getting injured.
Prescott having Parsons' back shows the locker room will only get even stronger, and it's apparent that the leaders of America's Team have grown tired of Jerry's antics.
