Dak Prescott's explanation of hamstring injury is horrible news for Cowboys
By Ryan Heckman
Going into Week 9, the Dallas Cowboys looked to try and get back in the winning column coming off two-straight losses, and to NFC hopefuls, nonetheless.
Yet another matchup with an NFC hopeful awaited as the Cowboys took on the Atlanta Falcons on the road. Only, the losing streak would extend to three games as the Cowboys lost by a score of 27-21.
The loss wasn't necessarily the biggest of worries, though, as quarterback Dak Prescott left the game early in the fourth quarter due to injury. And, it wasn't just one injury which Prescott would endure.
For starters, Prescott had an injury at the base of his pinky finger on his throwing hand. There was some swelling there which caused some obvious discomfort. Again, that wasn't all, though. Prescott's biggest nuisance came from a hamstring injury.
If football fans know anything about hamstring injuries, it's that they can linger and are highly unpredictable. After Prescott left the game with just under 12 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, he would not return.
After the game, Prescott was asked about his slew of injuries. When it came to the hamstring? His explanation was a little worrisome, to say the least.
"I felt something I've never felt," the quarterback admitted.
Cowboys' Dak Prescott has alarming explanation of hamstring injury
The 31-year-old has seen his fair share of injuries throughout his career, of course, but for him to come out and say that this is something he's never felt before is quite alarming.
He will undergo some further testing over the next couple of days as one might assume, and we'll have to see if he's going to miss any time. If he does, it's not exactly ideal time for Prescott to miss some games.
Not only have the Cowboys lost three in a row, now, but their next three games are against some tougher opponents.
Up next, Dallas has a divisional matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, who boast a winning record. Then, they get the pleasure of taking on a tough Houston Texans team who is well-rounded on both sides of the ball.
To top off the three-game gauntlet, the Cowboys get to try and stop rookie sensation Jayden Daniels and the red-hot Washington Commanders who currently sit atop the NFC East.
This isn't to say Prescott is missing any time, at all, right now. But, hamstring injuries can wind up lingering from just a few days to a couple of months, and preparing for the worst is simply something the Cowboys may have to do.
It has been a brutal stretch of injuries for the Cowboys as of late, and this is the icing on the cake. Hopefully, it's not too serious.
