In a tight NFC East race between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys need every advantage they can get. The Eagles' nightmarish offensive coordinator search was enjoyable enough to watch in Dallas, but the trade drama surrounding one of their best players could become a deciding factor.
A.J. Brown has been floated in trade speculation for what feels like forever now, and it seems like he may finally get traded this offseason. The sooner (or more likely) he is to be traded, the better it is for the Cowboys, especially since it'll make the potential loss of George Pickens much more palatable.
The three-time Pro Bowler has been linked to many WR-needy teams, including the Bills and Patriots, but Bleacher Report's Moe Moton thinks he'll land with a different AFC team: the Baltimore Ravens, who are looking to capitalize on their Super Bowl window after firing John Harbaugh for Jesse Minter.
The Eagles trading A.J. Brown is the best case scenario for the Dallas Cowboys
The Eagles trading their best pass-catcher is good enough for the Cowboys, but Moton's trade package makes it even better. He has the 28-year-old going to Baltimore to catch passes from Lamar Jackson for the low price of WR Rashod Bateman and a second-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
All of the trade speculation for Brown has torpedoed into a media nightmare, which has basically eroded Howie Roseman's leverage in trade talks. But if this was the package they got for one of the best receivers in the sport, you could say he attended the Jerry Jones School of Trade Negotiation.
Brown has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in six of his seven NFL seasons and in five straight, so it makes no sense why the Eagles would be so insistent upon trading him. DeVonta Smith is really good, but why would Howie Roseman even pick up the phone if he's not offered a first-round pick?
The Eagles had enough offensive red flags in 2025 between Jalen Hurts' regression and Kevin Patullo's play-calling, so Brown is justified in his frustration. They were fresh off of a Super Bowl victory, so the offensive line getting worse while Hurts couldn't hit his WRs downfield is alarming.
Besides, Bateman is not all that. After a nine-touchdown campaign in 2024, he was held under 20 receptions and 300 receiving yards in 2025. He's been such a major bust that the Ravens are basically begging someone to take him, and of course, the Eagles would be interested.
Giving a two-time MVP a truly elite WR1 for the first time in his career is scary, and this move would reunite Brown with former teammate Derrick Henry and complement him with Zay Flowers.
Simply put, if the Eagles trade away their star wideout for a guy who caught 19 passes in 2025, the NFC East title will be coming home to Dallas.
