The Dallas Cowboys finally have some momentum after a primetime win last week against their division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, and this is no time for them to let their foot off the pedal. Brian Schottenheimer's team must string together two in a row as they face the Arizona Cardinals.
At this point in the NFL season, no team is healthy. There are varying degrees of this word within each building, and Dallas has been bitten by the injury bug fairly hard this year. But they're getting reinforcements for Week 8, so much so that a somewhat surprising player is a healthy scratch.
Here are the team's inactives for this Sunday:
CB Shavon Revel Jr.
LB Dee Winters
WR/RS KaVontae Turpin
TE Luke Schoonmaker
OT Drew Shelton
DE Tyrus Wheat
Dallas Cowboys Week 8 inactives vs. Cardinals
While most of these were expected, the real stunner here is that Revel Jr. is a healthy scratch. He is no stranger to being inactive on game days because of his nefarious injury history, but with Cobie Durant and P.J. Locke back, the Cowboys don't seem to need the 2025 third-round pick active.
Ameer Speed has also been a pretty pleasant surprise on the outside, and he is a much better special teams player than Revel Jr. is at this point. Although not filled with top-end talent, the Dallas cornerback room is a bit crowded and will be more so if Devin Moore ever returns from injury.
Winters and Turpin were ruled out earlier this week, as they'll both miss their second straight contest. Luckily, Tyler Goodson can fill Turpin's role on special teams, and Camden Brown can provide field-stretching speed for the Cowboys' offense.
DeMarvion Overshown being back, and Shemar James playing better than most expected, has lessened the loss of Winters, who was struggling this year. And Schoonmaker was limited all week at practice, but James Mitchell was elevated from the practice squad and will be the third tight end.
Shelton is a healthy scratch, as he well should be. And Wheat is now inactive for the second straight week, after James Houston held that distinction for several weeks prior. When it came to their questionable players, though, Dallas got a healthy helping of good news.
George Pickens was not listed on the inactive list, which means he will play on Sunday against the Cardinals. Kenny Clark is in the same boat, so Dallas will not be missing its second-best wide receiver or second-best defensive tackle, either.
Marist Liufau and Jonathan Bullard were questionable but have not been activated to the 53-man roster, so they will not play against Arizona, but are not listed on the inactives.
