The Dallas Cowboys came away with a thrilling 34-30 win over the Houston Texans. CeeDee Lamb had a masterclass performance, as the offense scored 28 points in the second half. A reason for that was the play of left tackle Tyler Guyton.

Despite going up against one of the best edge rush duos in the NFL, Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter, Guyton was lights out.

Patrik Walker of DallasCowboys.com pointed out some eye-popping stats. Hunter lined up against Guyton 32 times, yet he gave up just two pressures, zero sacks, and had 4.45s time to pressure. He had 28 1-on-1 reps against Hunter.

Meanwhile, in the eight snaps against Anderson, Guyton allowed one pressure and 2.8s time to pressure. This was just the latest example of Guyton's emergence, and that's a massive development for this team.

Tyler Guyton is finally becoming the player Cowboys needed him to be

In his first two campaigns, Guyton's play on the field was up and down. He dealt with some injuries and growing pains at left tackle. This season was huge for him and the team to see if he could be a franchise left tackle.

While there are 13 games left, the Oklahoma product has seemed to elevate his play in 2026, and his outing against the Texans put that on full display.

Walker also called out that Guyton has given up only 12 QB pressures and zero sacks this season, per Next Gen Stats. He's been lined up 1-on-1 against some stout pass rushers like Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, Odafe Oweh, Trey Hendrickson, and the stars in Houston.

Has there been a play this season where you came away thinking Guyton torpedoed it? He’s quietly held down the left side, which is exactly what you want from the guy responsible for protecting Dak Prescott’s blind side. No headlines, no glaring mistakes, no reason to notice him. All the things you want.

That's nothing to sneeze at, especially since Guyton struggled with pressure and penalties in his first two seasons. All things considered, he took that personally, and his play on the field has shown that.

Tyler Guyton shined vs. Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter

Dallas has questions at right tackle with Terence Steele, but Guyton is the third Tyler on the offensive line who is stellar. Tyler Booker is building off his excellent rookie season. Tyler Smith is on IR due to a thumb injury, but we all know the caliber of player he is.

Guyton taking that step is huge for Dallas. Protecting Dak Prescott's blind side can't be overstated, especially since he's dealt with some serious injuries in his career. The 25-year-old being this solid gives them an advantage. Since he's shown he can handle being on an island, that allows Dallas to give extra help to the right side for Steele.

When Smith returns from injury, the left side of Dallas' offensive line can develop into one of the best duos in the entire NFL.

Dallas used a first-round pick on Guyton in 2024. He entered the league with exciting traits, but he needed some time to develop. Now, a quarter into the season, it looks like Guyton has put everything together and looks like the franchise tackle the Cowboys envisioned him to be.
