Dallas Cowboys fans spent Monday laughing at the New York Giants, not for firing head coach Brian Daboll, but for deciding to keep general manager Joe Schoen, who owns a 20-40-1 record in three years at the helm.
Monday night was much different as the Eagles and Packers locked horns in arguably the most anticipated game of the NFL season. To say it didn't live up to the hype would be an understatement, as it was 0-0 at halftime and the first points weren't scored until midway through the third quarter.
It was a defensive slopfest with conservative play-calling on both sides that the Eagles ultimately won by the skin of their teeth, 10-7. Normally, a Philadelphia win would be enough to ruin a Cowboys fan's weekend of football, but the result boosted Dallas' standing in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Cowboys are sitting pretty in 2026 NFL Draft following another Packers loss
If the season ended today, the Cowboys would own the No. 12 and No. 21 overall picks in next year's draft. That's a tremendous spot to be given that Green Bay boasted the best record in the NFC just two weeks ago. Losers of back-to-back games, the Packers have fallen almost 10 spots in the draft order.
Of course, Dallas owns Green Bay's first-round picks for the next two years from the Micah Parsons trade.
The trade caught so much heat because those picks were projected to land in the mid-to-late 20s. That might still happen, but it’s obvious now the Packers aren’t who everyone thought they were.

In their three losses, their defense has given up 13, 16, and 10 points. Their offense has no bark and will be without its best player, tight end Tucker Kraft, for the remainder of the season. Beyond that, Green Bay is lucky not to have four losses, as the Cowboys could've easily won the Week 4 shootout that ended 40-40.
The Packers are talented enough to turn it around, but their rest-of-season schedule is anything but forgiving. They play a Giants quad in Week 11 that may not have Jaxson Dart, but after that, they get the Vikings, Lions, Bears, Broncos, Bears (again), Ravens, and the Vikings to close the year.
If you said before the season that the Cowboys would get the No. 21 overall pick next year courtesy of the Packers, we would've called you crazy. With how lost Green Bay's offense looks, it is suddenly a real possibility that the pick ends up in the late teens.
That would certainly change the perception of the Parsons trade.
