Micah Parsons' top trade destination is painfully clear (and it's a nightmare)

If it wasn't already obvious that the Dallas Cowboys are one of the most dysfunctional teams in the NFL, they have pushed defensive superstar Micah Parsons to request a trade.

Teams have likely already checked in on Parsons' availability, but the Cowboys reportedly don't plan on trading the two-time All-Pro, even though they declined to comment on the trade request.

It feels like this will end with Parsons signing a record-setting deal with Dallas, but what if it doesn't? What if the consequence isn't just a few extra million on Parsons' contract and the salary cap? Well, it's safe to say one team would top Parsons' wishlist of destinations: the Washington Commanders.

Cowboys star Micah Parsons would likely welcome a trade to the Commanders

Parsons has always been loyal to the Cowboys. He said as much in his statement.

"Yes, I wanted to be here," Parsons wrote. "I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this Americas team once again. The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA."

However, Parsons is also on the record saying he would love to be coached by Dan Quinn again. Quinn was the Cowboys' defensive coordinator for three seasons. He was hired the year Parsons was drafted in 2021. Parsons considers him a mentor and a friend, and they continue to have a close relationship.

So much so that Quinn gave Parsons a call after the Cowboys' 27-20 loss to the Bengals last December. Parsons told teammate Trevon Diggs, who has his own spat with Dallas' front office, that Quinn called to check on Parsons' mental and making sure he was OK.

Parsons was destined for superstardom no matter who his defensive coordinator was, and he proved it by dominating even without Quinn last season.

However, it is clear that Quinn means a lot to Parsons both on a professional and personal level, and he would probably welcome the idea of playing for him again.

The one holdup is that the Commanders play in the NFC East. The Cowboys likely wouldn’t trade Parsons at all, and sending him to a division rival would be franchise malpractice of the highest order.

We suppose nothing is technically out of the question with this front office, but trading Parsons to a bitter rival? That's not happening.

Doesn't mean Parsons wouldn't want it, though.
