The bleep has hit the fan, folks. After a long contract standoff between star pass-rusher Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys, fans weren't sure after each and every update that it could get worse.
Well, apparently it can always get worse. Cowboys fans found that out the hard way on Friday afternoon when Parsons officially posted on his social media that he wanted out of Dallas. His exact words were "I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys."
Harsh, but is anyone really all that surprised by this? Jerry Jones and the front office have known since last year that they'd need to extend Parsons sooner rather than later and they've continued to kick the can down the road and ignore the move we all know they need to make.
After Parsons' trade request, one would think the team might have something to say about the situation, right?
Yeah, about that... It appears the Cowboys won't be addressing what Parsons had to say. Per Todd Archer on X, "The Cowboys will not have a response to Micah Parsons' trade request, according to team spokesman."
Cowboys don't plan to speak about Micah Parsons' trade request
So, to sum up, not only do the Cowboys plan to continue dragging all of this out, now that Parsons has made his final demands clear (which the Cowboys reportedly are not going to honor), the team isn't planning to speak about the situation at all? What kind of front office is this?
Why can't they do the right thing here and at least discuss what's happening so the fans have somewhat of an idea as to what their line of thinking is?
Players like Parsons don't fall into teams' laps very often and it's incredibly frustrating to see the team botching this situation so badly. Parsons has had double-digit sacks in each of his four seasons and if there's a player on the Cowboys who deserves a massive payday, it's him.
Perhaps this situation will play out how it did for the Browns and Myles Garrett, who also demanded a trade before landing a massive extension. Cowboys fans are hoping that this situation gets resolved but right now, it feels pretty hopeless.
