Dare we say the Dallas Cowboys are putting together an excellent draft?
While they probably reached a little on first-round guard Tyler Booker, he was clearly the top player on their board. Dallas followed that with two incredible value picks: pass rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku in the second and cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. in the third.
Whereas Booker and Ezeiruaku are polished prospects who could make an immediate impact as rookies, Revel is more of a question mark. That has nothing to do with his athleticism or ability to make plays on the gridiron, however.
Revel suffered a torn ACL just three games into his final season at East Carolina. He wasn't able to workout for teams before Thursday night so his stock understandably dropped.
The success of this pick hinges on how Revel bounces back from surgery. It's a difficult injury to rebound from, especially for cornerbacks. In a pleasant surprise, though, Revel told 105.3 The Fan after he was drafted that he's expected to be cleared for training camp.
Cowboys' Shavon Revel provides huge injury update after getting drafted
Revel said he's running in a straight line and he has recently been cleared to progress his workouts, so cuts and getting into breaks seemingly are on the horizon. The former Pirate has also been doing heavy lifting and the pace of his rehab can pick back up now that the draft process is over.
Revel's surgery was performed by renowned Cowboys physician Dr. Dan Cooper, who said he expects Revel to be back on the field for training camp.

That is the best-case scenario for Dallas, as Daron Bland is the only healthy returning starter at cornerback after the team lost Jourdan Lewis in free agency.
To add injury to insult, Trevon Diggs underwent another major knee surgery and his recovery is expected to bleed into the regular season. Late-season breakout star Josh Butler is also recovering from a torn ACL and will likely start camp on the PUP list.
Yes, the Cowboys traded for Kaiir Elam, but he cannot be trusted to start Week 1. The team simply could not come out of the first three rounds without a CB and they got the second-best one in the class who is making waves in his knee recovery.
