The Dallas Cowboys' defense-heavy approach in the 2026 NFL Draft netted them safety Caleb Downs at No. 11 overall, edge rusher Malachi Lawrence at No. 23, and versatile linebacker Jaishawn Barham at No. 92. This roster-building philosophy led to Devin Moore on Day 3.

Just two selections after Dallas' first offensive pick in Penn State offensive tackle Drew Shelton at No. 112 overall, Dallas managed to land Moore with the No. 114 overall pick. The selection represents great value, as Moore's length and ball skills likely sold Jerry Jones and Will McClay.

Moore coming to Dallas likely spells bad news for 2025 third-rounder Shavon Revel Jr. On top of his poor play last season, adding a physical titan on the outside in Moore could give Christian Parker a stylistic replacement for the former highly-touted East Carolina star on the outside.

Picking a cornerback is one thing, but adding a 6-3 outside cornerback that can swallow up receivers at the line of scrimmage makes him a perfect stylistic match. Revel, who struggled mightily last season when forced into action, may have been Wally Pipp'd by new DC Christian Parker's preferred choice.

Moore only has one season of elite starting tape, and with concussions and a major shoulder injury in the past, he isn't the squeaky clean prospect many of his biggest supporters assure he is. However, at his best, few cornerbacks in the league can touch him when he's in press man.

Moore should be able to immediately fight for starting snaps. If he can show his 4.5 times speed will translate to the NFL and it not simply the result of a particularly good 40-yard dash, Moore can rach his full potential in a defense that loves cornerbacks with his style.

Revel will need to hit the ground running in his second professional season, as with Moore and Downs added to the secondary, as he now has a young player with upside that will be pushing him for snaps the second he straps his helmet back on.
