Cowboys' KaVontae Turpin just got sweet revenge after Pro Bowl snub

Turpin should've been named to the Pro Bowl in the first place.

With the Seattle Seahawks earning a Super Bowl 60 date this past Sunday with a hard-fought 31-27 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game, several slots on the NFC roster for next week's Pro Bowl games opened up, as Seattle was set to send six players to the annual all-star festivities.

That list, of course, included longtime Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who's now owed a Rolex by Dez Bryant, by the way.

Also among those chosen from the Seahawks was Rasheed Shaheed, who earned his second selection as a kick returner but will now be replaced by none other KaVontae Turpin, marking the third selection for the TCU alum in the past four seasons.

The Cowboys now have seven Pro Bowlers, as quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver George Pickens, offensive guard Tyler Smith, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, and kicker Brandon Aubrey were named to the original NFC roster, with tight end Jake Ferguson recently being added as an alternate for George Kittle, who tore an Achilles during the San Francisco 49ers' wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Truth be told, Turpin shouldn't have had to get in as an alternate, as he undoubtedly deserved to be named to the original NFC roster.

Shaheed is certainly an explosive player (just ask the 49ers about that), and his 100-yard kickoff return in the Seahawks' Week 14 win over the Atlanta Falcons was the longest of the entire 2025 NFL season.

Overall, however, Shaheed, who was traded to Seattle by New Orleans at the deadline in early November, had just 786 return yards between the Saints and Seahawks this season, with 447 on 15 kickoff returns and another 339 on 23 punt returns.

Turpin, meanwhile, racked up 1,869 yards, leading the NFL in kickoff return yards for the second straight season, with 1,814, and adding another 55 on 10 punt returns. The 29-year-old was recently named to the second AP All-Pro squad of his career, earning Second-Team honors in the kick-returner category, with Ray Davis of the Buffalo Bills nabbing the First-Team slot.

Not that it pertains to the Pro Bowl, but it's certainly worth noting that Turpin also set a new Cowboys record for the most net yards gained in a season with 2,351, surpassing the 2,261 gained by DeMarco Murray in 2014.
