Dez Bryant owes DeMarcus Lawrence an expensive gift after losing Super Bowl bet

Well, it looks like Lawrence knew what he was talking about.

Not long after DeMarcus Lawrence signed with the Seattle Seahawks after spending 11 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, the Boise State alum said that while he'll always have a soft spot for America's Team, he knew that he had no real shot of winning a Super Bowl with the franchise that made him the No. 34 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

His comments certainly rubbed a few people the wrong way, including Micah Parsons (remember when he was a Cowboy?), but Lawrence obviously made the right call in moving on, as he and his Seattle teammates are set for a Super Bowl 60 showdown with the New England Patriots after taking a 31-27 victory in Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

Now, it's interesting to note that when we looked at the Super Bowl 60 odds following the first wave of free agency last March, more specifically, 10 days after Lawrence signed, the Seahawks weren't being given much more of a chance than the Cowboys to hoist the Lombardi Trophy, getting +6500 odds while Dallas sat at +7000. So, oddsmakers obviously weren't convinced that Seattle was a genuine contender.

And as it turns out, neither did his former Cowboys teammate of four seasons, Dez Bryant, who revealed late Sunday night that, with the Seahawks making the Super Bowl, he now owes Lawrence a Rolex.

Now, we're not going to provide the post Bryant made to his X account, which features a series of texts between him and Lawrence last spring, as it contains a fair amount of NSFW language. But you can take a look for yourself HERE if you're so inclined.

The basic gist of the conversation was that while Bryant told Lawrence he had full faith in the Seahawks' defense (he was right on the money with that assessment), he had concerns about the offense, saying Seattle had no weapons on that side of the ball, and that new quarterback Sam Darnold, who'd signed a three-year, $100.5 million contract after spending the 2024 campaign with the Minnesota Vikings, could have trouble without Justin Jefferson.

Kudos to Dez for posting what obviously turned out to be a horrible take, as Darnold had a second consecutive MVP-caliber season in leading the Seahawks to a 14-3 regular-season record, while Seattle wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba tallied 119 receptions for a league-leading 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The endgame, of course, was Bryant telling Lawrence he'd buy him a Rolex if the Seahawks made the Super Bowl as payment for doubting him.

A Rolex is nice and all, but Lawrence is obviously hoping to add a ring to his jewelry collection as well.
