The Dallas Cowboys' season already feels like it is on the ropes in Week 9 as they travel to take on one of the only teams in the NFL that are spiraling worse than they are: the Indianapolis Colts. And this is a get-right game if I've ever seen one, or if that even matters for Brian Schottenheimer's team.

Indianapolis has already sold off great veterans like Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, and word on the street is that Josh Downs and Jonathan Taylor, and maybe more, could be next. The vibes are certainly low in the Colts' locker room, and some "business decisions" could be made on Sunday.

But the Cowboys won't be going into this game fully staffed either. Earlier this week, fans learned that Malachi Lawrence would be out for several weeks with an ankle injury, but he's not the only one in danger of missing this weekend's contest.

Let's check out the latest regarding DeMarvion Overshown, George Pickens, Joey Porter Jr., Caleb Downs and others.

Dallas Cowboys injury update before Week 9 game vs. Indianapolis Colts

DeMarvion Overshown's latest setback

After suffering an injury in the season opener, Overshown returned in Week 7 and has played the last two weeks. Quite well, too. But sometime between the end of Wednesday's practice and the end of Thursday's, he popped up with a hamstring and back injury on the team's official injury report.

On Friday, Schotteheimer told 105.3 The Fan that they needed to "get him out there today and see how he does.” Overshown is questionable after being limited the last two days. It always seems to be something with him, unfortunately, so fans won't hold their breath for Overshown to be active.

Updates on George Pickens and Joey Porter Jr.

Pickens has been dealing with a multitude of injuries this year, it seems, which at least partially explains his downturn in production. He was limited in all three practices leading up to the Colts game, and he is also questionable for Sunday.

Dallas knew Porter Jr. was not 100% upon his arrival, but he's been a mainstay on the injury report and a full-on question mark every week, it feels like. He was full on Wednesday but has been limited the last two days, which is a bit worrisome, but Porter Jr. is questionable for Week 9.

Schottenheimer said before Friday's practice that he was "hopeful" to have both Pickens and Porter Jr. against Indianapolis. Fans will find out Sunday morning if that was just wishful thinking.

Rounding up Cowboys' injury report

Caleb Downs was in concussion protocol to begin the week, but he seems to have cleared it, as he was a full participant in Friday's practice and has no injury designation for the upcoming game. P.J. Locke is in the same boat as Downs, clearing concussion protocol, and he'll play this week.

After missing the last two-plus games, Dee Winters will return for Dallas. The Cowboys have not had a fully healthy linebacker corps for an entire game this season, and if Overshown misses Sunday, it will remain that way. But for the time being, he is at least insurance if Overshown is out.

Jake Ferguson improved from a non-participant on Wednesday and Thursday to being limited on Friday. It remains to be seen if he can play through his ankle injury, but he is officially questionable.

Of course, Malachi Lawrence is out with the aforementioned ankle injury, and Kavontae Turpin will miss his third straight game with an injury to his ribs.

Jonathan Bullard and Marist Liufau have not been activated to the 53-man roster, but they both practiced in full all week. Officially, they are questionable as the Cowboys mull over their roster math equations.

Rapid fire: Luke Schoonmaker is questionable. Tyler Smith and Kenny Clark are good to go.
