Dallas Cowboys fans finally got to see Jaydon Blue in action on Friday after he missed the first two weeks of preseason with a heel/ankle injury to his right foot.
Unfortunately, Blue picked up another injury to the same ankle when he got rolled up on. He walked off on his own power, but did not return. Brian Schottenheimer said after the game that he didn't think Blue suffered a major injury and that was confirmed by the MRI, which revealed a low-ankle sprain, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Fowler added that Blue is hopeful he can play in Week 1, but it is probably on the table that Dallas sits Blue to make sure he's healthy for the long run. That would really hurt their chances of stealing a win on the road in Philadelphia to open the season.
Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue is dealing with a low-ankle sprain
This is not the end of the world by any means. In fact, Blue fired off a tweet after the game that would seem to suggest he's confident about suiting up against the Eagles. Blue posted multiple pictures from the Falcons game with the caption, "First one in the books ! See ya week 1."
That is very reassuring, but Blue's adrenaline was likely through the roof at the time. What will ultimately determine whether the 21-year-old plays is how his ankle responds to treatment. The Cowboys will probably hold him out of practice this week and reevaluate him on Friday, which technically qualifies as a Monday considering they play on Thursday next week.

A lot is up in the air right now, but it goes without saying that Dallas needs Blue out there. The rookie out of Texas only finished with 25 rushing yards on nine carries in his NFL debut, but we learned pretty quickly that he'll burst through a hole when it's given to him.
He also had an impressive goal-line touchdown run, showing off a physical element to his game by winning a one-on-one with a Falcons defender. His best run was a 13-yard scamper when he executed a nifty cutback on a carry that would've had no chance if he followed his blockers.
Blue is clearly ready for the regular season, but you have to wonder if the Cowboys will err on the side of caution to give that ankle more time to heal. Two injuries to the same ankle in a short period of time might force their hand.
