For the third time in four years, the Dallas Cowboys used their first-round pick in the NFL Draft on an offensive linemen. On Thursday night, they took Alabama guard Tyler Booker, who is expected to start at right guard in the wake of Zack Martin's retirement.

Cowboys fans are slowly but surely warming up to the pick. While there is a conversation to be had about whether teams should spend a premium pick on a non-premium position, Booker gives Dallas a trio of tenacious people-movers along the interior offensive line.

The Cowboys are going to bully some teams in the trenches, but fans are understandably having a difficult time reckoning with Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan going five picks earlier to the Carolina Panthers at No. 8 overall.

A lot of pre-draft buzz hinted McMillan would have been the pick if he was available. Jerry Jones all but confirmed that while addressing the media after the conclusion of round one.

Jerry Jones confirms Cowboys would have drafted Tetairoa McMillan

Jones did not say outright that the team would have taken McMillan. Given the need for a new receiver and some of the other names connected to Dallas with the No. 12 pick, though, it's not crazy to think McMillan was the top player on their "realistic" big board.

Regardless, at least we know the Cowboys were willing to address the WR2 position. The only problem is that the options are dwindling and draft expert Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network expects an early run on the position once the second round kicks off.

That could soil Dallas' hopes of landing Luther Burden, who is comfortably the top receiver available after McMillan, Matthew Golden and Emeka Egbuka went on night one.

Along with Burden, Jeremiah expects Iowa State duo Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel to hear their names called early in round two. Jeremiah also thinks some EDGEs could fly off the board. Marshall's Mike Green and Boston College's Donovan Ezeiruaku are two names to watch in that regard.

That could help a WR fall to Dallas, but again there is a precipitous drop-off in talent after the consensus top-four receivers. Whether it's at No. 44 or No. 76, it's important that Jones and Co. don't force a wideout just because it's a need.

See how the board falls and go from there. If they don't love the options they might have to peruse the trade market for a veteran to fill the WR2 void.

Needless to say the Panthers taking McMillan threw a big 'ole monkey wrench into the Cowboys' draft.
