Cowboys better not even think about this ghoulish Micah Parsons trade package

This trade package would not be smart for the Dallas Cowboys to make.

As of now, the momentum is building toward Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys eventually parting ways. Jerry Jones loves all the attention he and the Cowboys have gotten with the Parsons standoff, so he hasn't budged at all in negotiations.

If this team was serious about winning, Parsons would have signed a massive extension the second he was eligible. Anyway, recently, there have been some trade packages making their way around the NFL world regarding Micah Parsons heading to a variety of teams.

The most recent trade package just wouldn't at all be a smart move for Dallas and would throw them down even further in the NFC hierarchy.

Cowboys ship Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in a wild trade package

Here are the details of the trade from Alex Kay of Bleacher Report:

"While Dallas owner Jerry Jones isn't willing to give Parsons the record-breaking extension he desires, there should be no shortage of interested suitors. One squad that could meet the superstar's price and may be willing to give up a hefty amount of assets in the process is Green Bay.

"The Packers have been on the cusp of contending for several years but lack a generational talent like Parsons to anchor their defensive front. If they are willing to give up a package that includes multiple Day 1 and 2 picks—as well as a quality talent such as Rashan Gary—it could be enough to get Dallas to move on from Parsons this offseason."

The Cowboys do net picks in the first four rounds across the next two NFL Drafts and Rashan Gary, who is a good player, but this would not be wise. Micah Parsons is a generational talent and does have a Hall of Fame-caliber skillset. Any trade package should require at least two first-round picks with additional compensation.

Furthermore, trading Parsons within the conference just wouldn't be smart, as Dallas would still be close to the player in all the wrong ways. It was just two years ago that the Packers handed the Cowboys arguably their worst playoff loss in franchise history at AT&T Stadium.

Rashan Gary turns 28 years old in December and is a one-time Pro Bowler who has amassed 39 sacks, 39 tackles for loss, and 91 QB hits over the first six seasons of his NFL career. That's fine production, but if Dallas wants to get back into contention, the best path forward for this team is to pay their best player and keep him with the team for years to come, period.

Jerry Jones and Dallas' front office has botched this entire situation but could redeem themselves if they got this deal done. Trading feels like a last-ditch, desperate solution.
