Despite missing three games earlier this season, which might as well be a full four seeing as he suffered the high-ankle sprain that cost him the other three in the first quarter of the Dallas Cowboys' Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears, CeeDee Lamb has still had a productive season.
With five catches for 46 yards in the Cowboys' Christmas Day victory over the Washington Commanders this past Thursday, the four-time Pro Bowler now has 1,073 yards for the year, good for a tie for the eighth-most in the NFL, with his 82.5 yards per game being good for sixth.
In reaching the 1,000 yards in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Lamb became just the second player in Cowboys history to hit the mark in five consecutive seasons, joining the great Michael Irvin, while also becoming just the third wideout in NFL history to reach 1,000 total yards from scrimmage in each of his first six years, joining Randy Moss and Mike Evans.
There could end up being a fourth member to that last club if Justin Jefferson can record 49 total yards in the Minnesota Vikings' regular-season finale against the Green Bay Packers. And as it happens, Lamb and Jefferson will also be battling for another piece of NFL history in Week 18, as both have a shot to claim the record for the most receptions through six seasons.
CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson will fight for the NFL record for the most receptions by a player through their first six seasons
At the start of this 2025 regular season, the record for the most catches by a player in his first six seasons belonged to Jarvis Landry with 564, the first 400 of which came with the Miami Dolphins from 2014 to 2017 and the next 164 coming with the Cleveland Browns between the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
In the aforementioned matchup with the Chargers in Week 16, Lamb actually surpassed Landry, as his six grabs took his career total to 565.
However, Lamb did not become the new all-time leader in this category, as Jefferson had six catches of his own that same day in the Vikings' win over the New York Giants, thus bringing his career total to 567.
As mentioned, Lamb had five catches on Christmas against the Commanders. Jefferson, meanwhile, also played on the holiday and recorded four grabs in a win over the Detroit Lions.
As such, Jefferson (571) will take a one-catch lead over Lamb (570) into Week 18.
But that's not the only history Lamb has on the line in the Cowboys' season finale against the Giants. Now with 7,412 regular-season receiving yards for his career, he needs just 48 yards to surpass Dez Bryant (7,459) for fifth all-time in Dallas history.
