There is a lot to be excited about with the Dallas Cowboys' new coaching staff. However, if there is one qualm Cowboys fans had in the offseason, it was letting former defensive backs coach and assistant head coach Al Harris leave for the Bears, who hired Harris as their defensive passing game coordinator.

Harris has a lot of talent to work with in Chicago's secondary, but he has quietly turning around the career of Nahshon Wright, a third-round pick of the Cowboys in 2021. Wright has seen a lot of burn with the first-team defense due to the injury to star cornerback Jaylon Johnson and he is seemingly taking full advantage of the opportunity.

"He's been balling. He had a lot of turnovers in Spring," Bears safety Kevin Byard, who has played nine years in the league, said of Wright, via Zack Pearson of 247 Sports.

It did not take long for Mike Zimmer to wipe his hands of Wright last summer. The Cowboys traded Wright to the Vikings before the end of training camp in a straight swap for cornerback Andrew Booth, who, much to the chagrin of fans, is still with the team.

Wright spent the year on Minnesota's practice squad and appeared in just one game before the Vikings moved on after the season. The Bears scooped him up to the tune of a one-year contract to reunite him with Harris, who coached him for three seasons in Dallas.

While injuries have a lot to do with Wright playing with Chicago's starting defense, he's earned that opportunity after turning heads in OTAs and minicamp. The Bears are extremely thin at cornerback behind starters Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon and Tyrique Stevenson.

The way things are trending, Wright could solidify a roster spot if he proves capable of playing on special teams. Fortunately for him, he saw plenty of special teams work with the Cowboys, playing a total of 611 snaps for now-former coordinator John Fassel over three seasons.

Time will tell if Wright is able to continue this momentum when the pads come on, but he has operated as the Bears' CB2 in Johnson's absence. There is no doubting that Harris has played a huge role in Wright's emergence.
