AJ Brown trade rumors have Cowboys fans bracing for euphoria or disaster

I'll take euphoria with a side of euphoria, please.

The Dallas Cowboys have had a productive initial week of free agency, but it pales in comparison to what their NFC East rivals have accomplished. Surprising, right?

If you can believe it, the Philadelphia Eagles haven't made a splash as they navigate a difficult salary cap situation. They've had to be more calculated than usual, and they did well to sign cornerback Riq Woolen and defensive end Arnold Ebiketie -- two players who would have fit nicely in Dallas.

Of course, all anyone cares about with the Eagles right now is the A.J. Brown trade saga. Things seem to be trending toward Brown getting dealt, but there hasn't been any movement yet, potentially because of general manager Howie Roseman's obscene asking price.

Maybe we'll have an answer soon, however, as The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that the New England Patriots (hooray) and Los Angeles Rams (boo!) are making "strong pushes" to land the disgruntled receiver.

Cowboys fans should be rooting with every fiber of their being for Brown to get traded out of the conference.

The Dallas Cowboys need the Eagles to trade AJ Brown out of the NFC

The Rams' offense is already hard enough to defend with Sean McVay calling plays for Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua, and Davante Adams. Adding Brown to the mix would make stopping them virtually impossible. That is the last thing you want from one of Dallas' possible playoff opponents next season.

We know, we know. Get to the playoffs first before you start talking about potential opponents.

Obviously. But what is the offseason for if not projecting? The Rams adding Brown would be a nightmare for the entire NFC, not just the Cowboys.

The Rams maintain interest in Brown despite trading one of their 2026 first-round picks to the Kansas City Chiefs for star cornerback Trent McDuffie. Russini notes that while dialogue between the teams has "slowed", Los Angeles continues to monitor Brown's status.

In a vacuum, Brown leaving the Eagles would be a win for Dallas. But why stop there? Get him to New England to reunite with Mike Vrabel, who coached him in Tennessee.

If Brown ends up on the Patriots, it wouldn't be a problem for the Cowboys until a potential Super Bowl matchup against the reigning AFC champs.

We know, we know. The drought. 30 years. Heard, loud and clear.

The Cowboys do not play the Patriots in 2026, so they wouldn't see Brown until 2027 anyway, whether it be in Super Bowl 61 or the 2027-28 regular season.

What's the point of being a fan if you're not actively rooting for the best possible outcome for your team? Brown staying in Philly is the nightmare of all nightmares, even if he continues to rot the locker room from the inside. Meanwhile, the Rams trading for him would make Dallas' playoff path that much tougher.

But Brown in New England? That doesn't harm the Cowboys one bit.
