Adam Schefter reveals Cowboys dodged a Micah Parsons trade nightmare

This would have been a complete disaster.

Yes, we're still talking about it. And, we'll continue talking about it for a while. But this time, there's a relatively positive spin on the Micah Parsons trade; a silver lining for the Dallas Cowboys, if you will.

Before ultimately trading Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys received a phone call from the Philadelphia Eagles in what would have been a completely unthinkable scenario. In a nutshell, things could have been even worse. ESPN's Adam Schefter had the inside scoop.

"Philadelphia called Dallas to try to acquire Parsons, but the Cowboys had no interest in trading the two-time All-Pro pass rusher within their own division -- especially to the rival Eagles, sources told Schefter."

The Eagles' pursuit of Micah Parsons is yet another dramatic chapter in this burning rivalry with the Cowboys

First of all, even thinking about Parsons in an Eagles jersey is enough to make a Cowboys fan sick to their stomach. That isn't a world anyone wants to live in, and thankfully, Jerry Jones agreed on that front.

Secondly, the fact that the Eagles even reached out is somewhat of an insult to injury, so to speak. The Cowboys already have to deal with Philadelphia being the defending Super Bowl champions. But, to think the champs wanted to steal away arguably the Cowboys' best player? That's tough to swallow.

Come on, man. This is the Eagles we're talking about.

I'd call it a low blow, but this is a business after all.

Speaking of the business side of things, the Eagles wouldn't have been able to make the trade work, financially, either; not without some serious sacrifices, at least.

Philadelphia has to think about an extension for Jalen Carter in the near future. How would they have paid both Carter and Parsons? In short, they wouldn't have been able to. The Eagles' payroll is already so heavily tied-up in offensive talent and they hardly have the cash left over to make notable moves on the defensive side.

The Eagles likely would have gone without Carter, in the long run, in order to have landed Parsons. To go to that type of length in trying to acquire Parsons should make Cowboys fans all the more sick and tired of Philadelphia.

It just stings all over. That's the best way to spin it. If Cowboys fans are honest, there isn't much of a positive takeaway here. Say what you will about the pair of first-round picks. Try and defend the incoming Kenny Clark.

it's tiring. This was a hard pill to swallow. But, it almost became worse.
