Week 1 features a ton of storylines specifically in regards to the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. We know, by now, what everyone has been talking about. Yes, the aftermath of the Micah Parsons trade has been fairly brutal on this fan base.
As if the vibes weren't tough enough, Eagles head coach had to come out and act all serious with the Philadelphia media when asked about the Super Bowl banner unveiling on opening night. In typical Sirianni fashion, he responded:
“I didn’t know it was banner night, we won’t be out for that."
Sure, Nick. Sure. This has only been planned the entire offseason. You expect us to believe that wasn't a rehearsed answer? Get real, man.
The Cowboys didn't need added motivation, but Nick Sirianni gave it to them
Let us be real honest here for a moment. The Cowboys go into this game as underdogs. There is no doubt about the fact that most of the football world expects the Eagles to dominate this game, especially after watching Parsons get the boot.
Defensively, the Cowboys could be in for a very long night. Between losing Parsons and going into Year 1 of a new scheme under Matt Eberflus, Dallas might be in for it.
Yet, there is something about going into a game like this as complete and total underdogs that makes it so much more watchable from a Cowboys standpoint.
And now, Sirianni had to open his mouth and say something so foolish that a thousand eye rolls doesn't even do the reaction sufficient justice. Sirianni is the absolute worst when it comes to trying too hard.
Whether it's attempting sarcasm or celebrating on the sidelines after a big play, he is simply so hard to take seriously. He's like that kid back in high school who just wanted to be cool, so bad, and tried way too hard at it.
It would be complete poetry for the Cowboys to come out and upset the Eagles, shutting Sirianni's mouth for at least a night ... and on the night they unveil the Super Bowl banner. Why not come out swinging even harder?
The Cowboys have nothing to lose at this point, except for the game itself, which they're already expected to do. At least go out and try making a statement.
