The Dallas Cowboys managed to cut off a huge piece of dead weight that many expected would be gone in the offseason, waiving cornerback Trevon Diggs after six seasons. After his terrible play and injury problems, it seemed inevitable that the two parties would eventually be headed for a divorce.

Jerry Jones is not done cleaning up some of the less-appealing spots on this roster, as he needs to wipe a bunch of role players out of town in order to get enough financial flexibility to sign George Pickens. Any player on the fringes of the Dallas roster can't be guaranteed their spot will be there in 2026.

These five players may need to join up with Diggs in the near future, as they are guaranteed next to nothing in Dallas for the forseeable future and will likley be use as kindling for the proverbial Pickens fire Jones will try to light.

5. RB Miles Sanders

The Cowboys gave Sanders every opportunity to win the starting running back job, but Javonte Williams proved to be the much better player. Sanders had a stranglehold on the RB2 job early in the season before he underwent season-ending knee surgery. His NFL career is hanging by a thread.

4. WR Jalen Tolbert

The Cowboys have tried for ages to turn Tolbert into a high-end NFL receiver, and nothing seems to have taken. Tolbert may need a fresh start somewhere else, as he will be buried behind Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, and Ryan Flournoy, who has run away with the WR3 job in the second half of the year.

3. EDGE Sam Williams

Williams has shown some flashes this season, but he has also made it painfully clear that he is not going to live up to the hype he had when he was at Ole Miss. Williams will be let go as part of a major post-Micah Parsons restructuring of the Cowboys' pass rush.

2. RT Terence Steele

Steele has multiple more seasons under contract, but with Tyler Smith getting some time at left tackle and Tyler Guyton possibly kicking over to the other side, Dallas might be keen on offloading Steele's big contract. Some of those savings can be invested back into the defense.

1. LB Kenneth Murray

Murray has been just as bad as he was with the Los Angeles Chargers, which should have surprised absolutely no one in the state of California. With a strong linebacker draft coming up, it makes sense for the Cowboys to kick him to the curb and start fresh with someone who isn't so easily confused against the run and picked on in coverage.
