The Dallas Cowboys should leave no stone unturned searching for ways to refurbish their roster after another playoff disappointment.

The defense showing out in the playoffs shouldn’t dissuade the front office from pursuing a star player, either. Bobby Wagner might pique most fans’ interest, but Jalen Ramsey likely isn’t far behind after NFL Network reported the LA Rams are fielding trade calls about the star cornerback.

In Ramsey’s case, though, Dallas would have to surrender multiple draft picks — including a first-rounder — to bring the CB to the midwest.

Wagner would only require salary and cap space, which makes him the easier target logistically speaking, but either player would suffice as an “all-in” move the Cowboys have been averse to for the last 10 or so years.

What exactly would it cost to acquire Ramsey? Insiders and analysts have weighed in, so let’s see what they had to say.

NBC Sports’ Peter King thinks the Rams could get a low first-round pick, and a package of picks — maybe a low second, and a fourth-rounder.

More Cowboys News:

  • Pro Football Focus’ Brad Spielberger, meanwhile, doesn’t think Ramsey will require a first-round pick. That said, he still thinks it would cost a lot. In a proposed trade between the Rams and Dolphins, Spielberger had Miami offloading two second-round picks, while getting a fifth back from LA.
  • NFL Network’s Gregg Rosenthal is more on King’s wavelength. Rosenthal proposed a Patriots trade in which New England parted with the No. 14 overall pick and veteran wideout Kendrick Bourne for Ramsey. That’s the equivalent of a first-round selection and a mid-to-late round pick. That feels like a realistic middle ground to land Ramsey.
  • Moving from one corner to another, former Cowboys star Byron Jones is not retiring after he hinted at such over the weekend. Jones claims he’s unable to run or jump due to a combination of injuries and medical treatment. Jones is likely to be released with a post-June 1 designation, and it seems as though he has no plans of retiring despite creating the impression that he can’t play.

NFL News:

  • ESPN reported that the Bears are “leaning toward” moving the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft. The report claims Chicago has been approached by multiple teams about the pick. This would indicate the Bears are moving forward with Justin Fields as their QB after months of trade speculation.
  • Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, Florida’s Anthony Richardson, and Kentucky’s Will Levis will all throw at the combine on Saturday, per ESPN. Projected No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young will wait for Alabama’s pro day on March 23 to throw.
