3. Buffalo Bills

Another team with a starting running back entering free agency is the Buffalo Bills. One of the favorites in the AFC, Buffalo fell short again in 2022 as they were defeated by the Cincinnati Bengals in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Now, they have some decisions to make, with looming free agent Devin Singletary atop the list. A former third-round pick out of Florida Atlantic, Singletary spent the past four seasons in Buffalo and recorded 3,151 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground while adding 971 yards and four touchdowns as a receiver.

Despite his success, he’s never topped the 1,000-yard mark and general manager Brandon Beane didn’t sound too enthusiastic when discussing Singletary’s future.

"“Really improved in short-yardage. We know he can make guys miss. His hands improved,” The GM said. “We’ll have to see from a business standpoint how that will work out for us.”"

Sure, Beane praised his improvement but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them go in a different direction. While using a draft pick on a running back would make sense, they could also decide to add Tony Pollard, who could be dangerous in a duo with James Cook.

The Bills would have two running backs who each averaged more than five yards per rush but have also never been the primary ball carrier. Using them together would provide more explosive plays than their current committee and would be a win for all parties involved.
