3 best prop bets for Cowboys vs Jaguars battle in Jacksonville
By Adam Weinrib
The Dallas Cowboys have to enter Week 15 with a certain level of fury, especially considering their previous two tuneups against the AFC South haven’t gone as planned.
Sure, two wins are two wins. But for half of Dallas’ Sunday Night Football showdown with the Colts, fans sat dreading Jason Garrett’s pregame projection before it was nearly realized in the fourth quarter alone, and the discourse after Cowboys-Texans was all about hypocrisy in crediting teams for “the will to win” when it should’ve been about how the Cowboys won 50-3.
Hopefully, the Cowboys’ trip to Jacksonville turns out more like a Vikings game than a Texans scuffle.
Trevor Lawrence, Zay Jones and Co. likely have other ideas, however, as the new-look Jags behind Doug Pederson have galvanized into a solid 53-man unit, and are likely looking ahead to 2023 as their real opportunity to take a step forward. Lawrence has tossed 20 TDs to just six interceptions a year after Urban Meyer nearly picked him apart from the inside out; he’s good.
The defense? Not fantastic, not a train wreck. The Cowboys can’t show up expecting a victory Sunday, but they still have a good chance to make hay — and make you some money — if they roll up focused on the task at hand rather than the Eagles game.
Dallas Cowboys 3 Best Prop Bets for Week 15 vs Jaguars
All props courtesy of BetMGM:
1. Dak Prescott Over 254.5 Passing Yards (-120)
The Jaguars are definitively a middle-of-the-road team on both sides of the ball, but they’re routinely gashed through the air, leaving them 28th in passing yards allowed per game (and 27th overall in yards allowed). This Jags team surrenders an average of 253.3 air yards per week, almost directly aligned with Prescott’s over/under for the week. If he has a slightly above-average game, he’ll pass the mark.
2. Tony Pollard Over 52.5 Rushing Yards (-110)
It’s not like the Jaguars are the ’85 Bears in terms of stopping the run, either. Maybe more like the ’85 Bears, if they were forced to line up in the Florida heat in 2022. It’s wise to pound Pollard’s overs — or combine them in a same-game parlay — until that strategy stops being useful.
3. Tony Pollard Longest Rush Over 14.5 Yards (-115)
Pollard’s longest rushes of each game this season by yardage, in order of recency: 18, 30, 13, 20, 14, 54, 28, 15, 57, 9, 46, 17, 9.
As the season has gone on, he’s become likelier and likelier to break a big one or two. Worth a bet if you’re already backing him.
