4 Cowboys free agents who should return in 2023
By Randy Gurzi
All attention is on the current season, as it should be. The Dallas Cowboys are sitting at 9-3 and have a roster capable of making a run in the postseason. Whether or not they can get over the mental hurdle that stops them each year has yet to be seen, but the talent is there.
While all of that is true, there are several key contributors this year that are set for free agency in the offseason. Here, we look at four players who need to return in 2023.

4. Terence Steele, Right Tackle
Back in 2020, the Cowboys signed an undrafted free agent named Terence Steele and it went widely unnoticed. It wasn’t long before fans knew his name, though, as he was forced to start 14 games while appearing in all 16 as a rookie.
Steele struggled that year, but the coaching staff stood by him, apparently seeing a diamond in the rough. They were rewarded for their patience, as he improved in Year 2 before making a big leap this season. After 12 games, Steele is the highest-graded offensive lineman on the Dallas roster and the 17th highest-rated tackle in the NFL — according to Pro Football Focus.
He makes this list due to being a restricted free agent in the offseason, which means he should be easy to keep since the Cowboys can match any offer made by another team. What they need to do is place a high enough tender to keep anyone from being tempted to sign him, because he’s become too valuable to lose in 2023.
