Cornerback (6):

Trevon Diggs
Anthony Brown
Jourdan Lewis
Kelvin Joseph
Nahshon Wright
DaRon Bland

The reason for going with just five linebackers is simply due to not wanting to waive rookie DaRon Bland. It’s hard to find a spot for him on this roster since the Cowboys are suddenly deep at corner, but he proved to be too good to give up. Someone would surely claim him and he looked like a potential starter down the road if the coaches can be patient with him.

As a rookie, he will likely spend most games inactive while Trevon Diggs, Anthony Brown, and Jourdan Lewis take the majority of the snaps. They were hoping Kelvin Joseph could take the next step and push Lewis or Brown but he really didn’t stand out in the preseason, so he again might be No. 4 on the depth chart.

Nahshon Wright also makes the list after a strong showing this preseason. Taken in Round 3 a year ago, Wright was seen as a huge reach by the Cowboys but they were raving about his length and potential when they made the move.

It’s starting to show as he was physical in the run game and hung with most receivers he faced. He did get flagged more than you would like to see but also always recovered, including in Week 3 when he recorded a pick after being penalized a couple of times earlier in the game.
