There’s a lot of concern at left tackle right now with Tyron Smith out following a torn hamstring. Dallas didn’t do nearly enough to prepare for such an event, which is mind-boggling considering Smith hasn’t played a full season since 2015.

Josh Ball was given a shot on Friday but he’s not ready. The best move for them right now is to move Tyler Smith to left tackle and keep Connor McGovern next to him at guard. This wouldn’t have been a nightmare scenario had they not spent the entire offseason trying to transition Smith to guard, but again, lack of preparation is why they’re in the spot they’re in.

At center, Tyler Biadasz returns and they need to see some improvement from him this year. One man who needs no improvement is Zack Martin, their right guard, who is one of the best in the NFL.

Terence Steele is in at right tackle and he’s been fine in the past but this coaching staff has been claiming he’s taken major steps forward. They might just be trying to justify releasing La’el Collins, but time will tell.

On the bench, they go heavy with tackles, keeping Ball, Aviante Collins, and Matt Waletzko. Matt Farinok is the primary reserve for the interior of the line but Collins and Smith can also play inside if needed.
