4 things we learned from the Dallas Cowboys’ first preseason game

3. Penalties Still A Concern

Just when the Cowboys thought it was safe to play football again, their arch nemesis — the yellow flag — reared its ugly head yet again.

When you preach that one of your main goals this offseason was to eliminate penalties and in your first live-action you draw not one, but 17 flags, it’s not a good look Head coach Mike McCarthy and his coaching staff need to get their yellow laundry issues under control or risk having another season where positive drives are undone by penalties.

Let’s hope they can figure this out or it’s going to be another long and torturous season for this front office and Cowboys fans around the world. Plus, it could be the end of McCarthy’s tenure in Dallas.
