Second Round – Edge Rusher

What are the three main things that win games in the NFL? A solid quarterback, a good offensive line, and a strong pass rush. Theoretically, the Cowboys will have addressed the offensive line and they have a solid quarterback. One thing they are currently lacking is a speed rusher off the edge to complement DeMarcus Lawrence. The loss of Randy Gregory is a lot more damaging than people realize. Having him on the field allowed Lawrence to get more one-on-ones and gave linebacker Micah Parsons free rein to attack the offensive line from all directions.

For that reason, the best option for America’s Team is to find themselves a pass rusher that gives them that speed to attack defenses off the edge. This draft has a wide variety of edge rushers to choose from and they should be able to get a good one in the second round. If the Cowboys go in a different direction, it should be seen as a big mistake.

Next best option if wiped out: Cornerback

Reason: This may not be a big need but with everything up in the air with Kelvin Joseph it could be an option.
