Another under-the-radar player I love in this draft is offensive tackle Abraham Lucas. A monster of a human being, Lucas could come in and actually compete with Terence Steele for the starting right tackle spot.

As of now, the Washington State Cougar is a bit raw, but he has the size, traits, and motor to become one of the best tackles in the league over time. Who better fro this prospect to learn from than Tyron Smith?

Currently, Lucas is expected to land anywhere from the second to fourth round. It’s been difficult to gauge his projection, but if he’s available as early as the third round, the Cowboys should definitely consider pulling the trigger.

A familiar face in my big boards is here at number eight, which is Virginia tight end Jelani Woods. Woods is a player that the Cowboys have on their 30-visit list, so this being a selection is the most likely out of the whole group, and this would be a great one.

The Virginia product is best regarded as a raw vertical target. He switched to the tight end position during his collegiate career, so he is still relatively new to the position. It’d almost be perfect if he could sit behind a player, oh I don’t know, on his franchise tag year, then compete for the starting spot next year.

He could provide a downfield target for Dak Prescott and become one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the league. With Dalton Schultz still not reaching an extension with the Cowboys and Blake Jarwin being cut, the positon certainly needs depth. Woods is projected to go anywhere in the third-to-fifth rounds so the Cowboys could definitely have a chance to bring him to The Star.
