The Dallas Cowboys seemingly appointed Michael Gallup as Amari Cooper’s like-for-like replacement by giving their former third-round pick a five-year, $57.5 million extension before the start of the legal tampering period.

Of course, this puts unnecessary pressure on Gallup to produce like a legitimate second option and CeeDee Lamb to assume No. 1 duties. Are the two receivers ready to shoulder that kind of responsibility? Nobody knows, and that’s what makes the decision to trade Cooper such a head-scratcher.

While the Cowboys are unlikely to add another wideout until next month’s draft, Trevon Diggs stoked the rumor mill over the weekend by tweeting his desire to play on the same team as his brother, Bills receiver Stefon Diggs.

The All-Pro cornerback didn’t stop there. In a direct reply to his own tweet, Diggs indirectly recruited his older brother to Dallas.

Trevon Diggs recruiting his brother to the Cowboys didn’t sit well with Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

As you could imagine, Diggs’ tweets elicited a fiery reaction amongst Cowboys Nation and Bills Mafia. In defense of the 23-year-old, his recruitment pitch didn’t come out of the blue, as the elder Diggs, who was notorious for posting cryptic tweets during his Vikings tenure, recently tweeted “It’s always business… never personal.”

This could mean anything, obviously, but it seems to align with the theme conveyed by Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill after they were traded from the Packers to the Raiders and the Chiefs to the Dolphins, respectively.

As one of the top WRs in the game, Diggs could be hinting that he’s disgruntled with the current terms of his contract.

After all his base salaries of $12.56 million and $12.65 million over the next two seasons are way below the market value for someone who’s caught 230 passes for 2,760 yards and 18 touchdowns since he joined Buffalo in 2020.

A Diggs family reunion in Dallas would be a dream scenario for the Cowboys — that is if the front office would pony up the necessary assets to get a deal done — but the idea that Buffalo would trade Josh Allen’s favorite target is ludicrous.

How ludicrous, you ask? Well, Allen came out and threw a wet blanket on the rumors with one simple reply to a tweet from SportsCenter.

Yeah, that should just about put an end to the Diggs rumors, folks.

With two years left on his contract, it’s likely Buffalo will open extension negotiations before long. Not only is Diggs grossly underpaid from an AAV standpoint, but his $17.9 million cap hit for 2022 is the highest on the team.

An extension or restructure could bring that number down, and you better believe Diggs would prefer the former, as his $14.4 annual salary ranks 21st (!) amongst receivers, behind Courtland Sutton and Robby Anderson.

We respect the Cowboys’ Diggs for trying to lure his brother to Dallas, but Allen’s savage reply, which has generated over 100,000 likes since it was posted Saturday night, proves his favorite receiver isn’t going anywhere.
