Since 1987, the NFL Scouting Combine has taken place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Although Indy has stated that it would like to keep the combine in its city, the NFL has not decided if it wants to change locations for the event yet. The Dallas Cowboys’ home arena of AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, is one of the proposed places for the 2023 NFL Combine. Los Angeles is another potential location.

Jerry World is a $1.3 billion building with excellent amenities and great appeal. It hosts several events in the sporting and entertainment world, and would understandably make a great location for the NFL Combine. To the Jones family, it would also be another revenue opportunity and a way for them to show off their stadium even more.

This is no doubt an NFL effort to bring more fans and buzz around one of its main events of the offseason. Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones commented on the event moving to Arlington:

"“Indy has been a great host. If the league so chooses to move it, which it sounds like they might, we’d certainly love to be at the top of the list if we can. I think it would be great for our fans. To have it in our market, have the experience of being around it. It’s a positive thing. I think people can’t get enough of the NFL and football. It’s great for them to see these young players in our market and be a great experience for them.”"

Although the NFL Combine has been in Indianapolis for 35 years, there are talks that it may be moved to the Cowboys or Rams’ stadiums

According to NBC’s Pro Football Talk, the league has been trying to increase fan attendance at the scouting event. The NFL wants it to be more than just a place for executives to assess draft picks. In fact, there were 10,000 tickets made available for the 2022 NFL Combine.

While the talks are still considered in the early stages, an NFL executive named Troy Vincent did recently confirm that Los Angeles, Dallas, and Indianapolis all have bids in to host the 2023 event. Apparently, Indy was chosen back in the 1980s for being a central geographic location. But with Dallas’s large airport and big-city vibes, the Joneses could luck out in 2023. We all know this family would love another reason to be in the spotlight.
