On Monday morning, it was announced that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb would be replacing Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp in this year’s Pro Bowl. Lamb was initially an alternate, but with Kupp playing in the Super Bowl, Lamb will be taking the Ram’s starting spot. This is the second-year receiver’s first Pro Bowl selection.

While the offense was very hot and cold for the Cowboys this year, Lamb led the team in receiving yards with 1,102. That landed Lamb 14th in reception yards, which is pretty impressive considering Prescott has many targets when it comes to Dallas’s receiver corps. Lamb also had six touchdowns and a number of highlight-worthy plays this season. The receiver joins names like Justin Jefferson and Mike Evans on the NFC roster.

Lamb is now the sixth Cowboy headed to the Pro Bowl. This is a pretty big turnaround given zero Dallas players were named to the Pro Bowl last season. That’s right. Last year, America’s Team had no Pro Bowl selections for the first time since 1989.

This year, the NFC East champs only trail the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (eight selections) and Indianapolis Colts (seven selections), and they are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers who will also send six players.

With the addition of CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys will send six players to the Pro Bowl

It’s not the “Bowl” in February that we wanted the Cowboys to be participating in, but the high number of nominations is still impressive. Lamb joins five other members from America’s Team at the Pro Bowl. They are:

  • Zack Martin, G (7th Pro Bowl)
  • Tyron Smith, OT (8th Pro Bowl)
  • Trevon Diggs, CB (1st Pro Bowl)
  • Micah Parsons, LB (1st Pro Bowl)
  • Bryan Anger, P (1st Pro Bowl)

It is also nice to see that members of the team from all three phases will be representing Dallas in the competition.

This year’s Pro Bowl will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to make up for last year’s Pro Bowl cancellation due to the COVID-19 outbreak. It will air on Sunday, Feb. 6, on ESPN.
