Dallas Cowboys: 4. Blocked punt

For the first time since 2015, the Cowboys actually blocked a punt. It didn’t seem real at first, the Cowboys making a huge special teams play, but it indeed happened. Linebacker Luke Gifford was the one who shot through the line of scrimmage and laid out for the block.

Game-changing special teams plays are something that never happens in Dallas. But, special teams coordinator John Fassel is known for being aggressive and he sent the house on this block.

This was a huge momentum swing for the Cowboys even though the ensuing offensive drive led to zero points. Blocked kicks are so rare in the NFL that whenever they happen they should be appreciated.

I do not know if the Cowboys will get another block this year but it seems like a good bet that they will be aggressive and try to make game-changing plays on special teams.
