Dallas Cowboys: Top 3 bold predictions for showdown with Panthers
The undefeated Carolina Panthers head to AT&T Stadium to take on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Despite the Panthers’ record, there are still some questions about how good they truly are. Either way, this will be a good test for the Cowboys on Sunday and a game they should win.
The Panthers will be without star running back Christian McCaffrey and first-round cornerback Jaycee Horn for this game. Those are two big losses to both sides of the ball for Carolina. Especially McCaffrey who is the key cog in their offense and someone they will dearly miss.
This should be an exciting game and without further ado, here are 3 bold predictions for Sunday’s matchup.
Dallas Cowboys: 3. Cowboys’ defense forces 4 turnovers
The ‘Boys defense looks like a totally different unit from last season thanks to new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. The Cowboys D currently leads the NFL in takeaways through 3 weeks and I look for that to continue in week 4.
Sam Darnold has been turnover-prone his entire career with the New York Jets. But, now that he is in Carolina he has shown more of an ability to protect the ball. Darnold has only turned the ball over two times this season, one interception and one lost fumble.
Personally, I feel like it has more to do with who the Panthers have played than some complete turnaround of Darnold’s game. With the way the Cowboys have been disguising coverages, I expect them to confuse Darnold a few times forcing him to make bad throws resulting in interceptions.
Also, without McCaffrey in this game rookie running back Chuba Hubbard will start for the Panthers. I think not having McCaffrey as a security blanket will force Darnold to take more chances and chuck the ball downfield.
My prediction is we see two interceptions from Darnold, one strip-sack, and another fumble from one of the Panthers’ skill players to give the ‘Boys a huge momentum swing in the game.
