54. 41. 123. Final. 21

I assume that most Dallas Cowboys fans that went into work today and walked into their workplace did so with their chest puffed out a bit. That is the confidence the team can give its fans after a dominating victory but in the NFL, you can’t get too high or too low as the season is very long.

If I’m being totally honest, I can’t remember the last time I felt so good about a Cowboys victory. The Cowboys weren’t the only fans to be proud of their team but the Cowboys do wake up this morning in sole possession of first place in the NFC East. I don’t want to get carried away but this could be the closest any team in the division gets to the Cowboys.

Washington was blown out by the Buffalo Bills and it wasn’t particularly close. Washington defensive end Chase Young is a really nice player but a team without a quarterback is like owning a boat without knowing how to operate it. Looks nice while it’s docked but you really can’t go anywhere. As long as Washington neglects the quarterback position, they will continue spinning their wheels without gaining any traction.

The Giants lost to a Falcons team that got crushed by Philadelphia in Week 1. The Giants have a roster filled with good players yet its coaching staff and front office seem to be their primary issue.

Giants owner John Mara is the person to blame for the recent influx of taunting penalties. He led the offseason charge for referees to strictly enforce this rule. Do as I say and not what I do should be his mantra. Apparently, keeping your emotions in check only applies to the players on the field.

Mara should have probably spent this offseason evaluating his own general manager David Gettleman. The Giants GM is a dinosaur in an ever-evolving sport. I am not complaining as their ineptitude only helps the Cowboys but I do feel sorry for the players who are wasting their careers on this archaic-thinking franchise. I applaud Dallas fans for enduring the Jason Garrett era for so long.

The Falcons reside in the NFC South where their 1-2 record leaves them in the basement of their division but the New Orleans Saints and reigning world champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers are sandwiched in the middle with a 2-1 record.

Will the real Jameis Winston stand up? Do the Tamp bay Buccaneers have a debilitating weakness on defense? Only time will tell but it’s going to be interesting when the Saints face the Buccaneers on Halloween. The undefeated Carolina Panthers lead that division but face your Cowboys this Sunday. Questions will be answered but I think the McCaffrey injury might just do them in.

The Detroit Lions were robbed of a win and although I was rooting for them to get the victory, it is better that an AFC team beat an NFC team. The 2-1 Green Bay Packers lead that division and I have to say the Packers could run away in that division as well.

The Vikings finally won a game by beating a Seahawks team that can cause damage but seem to be trending downward. If Seattle is going to make any kind of push this season, it is going to be an uphill climb already.

San Francisco is 2-1 after they lost to Green Bay in a very entertaining game. My Aaron Rodgers PTSD might have kicked up a bit when I saw him do to San Fran what Aaron seemingly always does to Dallas. I do have questions about San Francisco after they struggled with Philadelphia last week.

The Arizona Cardinals are undefeated after they got by a Jacksonville team that was high on motivation but low on talent. The score was very close in the beginning but the Cardinals separated themselves in the second half.

The Los Angeles Rams are the second undefeated team in the division and convincingly beat the reigning world champions. Popular power rankings might have the Rams as the best team in the NFC but I can tell you without a doubt, Dallas is right there with them even though they aren’t getting the love they probably should.

The Cowboys are on their way to securing their first priority which is winning the division. They can’t get ahead of themselves but thinking about seeding should be their next goal. A win next week at home against Carolina will go a long way towards their ultimate goal.
