5 Cowboys veterans who could be left off the final roster
By Angel Torres
This is a very sensitive time for not only the Dallas Cowboys themselves but for more than a handful of NFL hopefuls trying to earn a roster spot. The time and effort has been exhausted and all that is left for those who lead the Dallas Cowboys to make the decision.
That decision can be just as cloudy as the picture above.
Every NFL team has to trim their rosters down to 53 by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Sept. 1. I believe most fans have an idea of who will make the team and who will be released but there always seems to be a surprise cut in the NFL.
Could the Dallas Cowboys have any surprise cuts this year?
I still remember the shock I had when the team moved on from kicker Dan Bailey who is currently a Minnesota Viking. I put currently as cuts around the league have not been announced as I type this article.
Training camp feels like eons ago so I would imagine the journey getting to this point for some of these hopefuls has been stressful, to say the least.
When the Dallas Cowboys starter this endeavor, I made an initial 53 man roster and separated it by both offense and defense. I feel like my 53 man roster was solid but there are a few players who I initially thought would make the roster who are on my bubble.
In most cases, it has to do with what this rookie class was able to accomplish rather than the veteran player themselves. Sometimes, the cost of keeping veterans over younger cheaper options is necessary and other times teams just need to rip the band-aid off.
I think the Dallas Cowboys need to rip off the band-aid and continue to search for contributors, specifically on the defensive side of the ball, and hopefully, they can hit paydirt.
I made my 53 man roster based on what I think the Dallas Cowboys are going to do rather than what I want them to do. These five players could be on their way out and I don’t think some of us saw this happening at the beginning of training camp.
