Sean Lee is leaving football. The Dallas Cowboys are losing the linebacker to retirement. Lee played all 11 seasons with America’s Team, earning two Pro Bowl nods. He leaves the Cowboys with 747 tackles in 118 games.

So, with the Dallas Cowboys down a linebacker, does this shift the draft blueprint? Lee only appeared in nine games last season, totaling 20 tackles. Whenever he steps on the field, the Cowboys appear more cohesive.

Now his services are gone. What does the mean? Well, I personally think the Cowboys were already planning on building the linebacker’s room with or without Lee. The linebacker has dealt with the injury bug all his career.

To make matters worse, the Cowboys saw the same template with current starting linebacker Leighton Vander Esch. Also, fellow linebacker Jaylon Smith is in a slump. There is some concern that his trajectory will continue south in 2021.

Clearly, the Cowboys need assistance at the linebacker spot. The ‘Boys are in deep waters defensively; fixing the rushing defense is a must. Will the Dallas Cowboys reimagine the linebacker’s room with extra support in the 2021 NFL Draft?

Folks, if you followed my mock drafts you’d know that I’m a big proponent of taking cornerback Patrick Surtain II with the 10th overall pick. But here’s the thing: What if Surtain is gone before that?

Does the owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, pull for tight end Kyle Pitts if he falls? Or should the Cowboys go with either cornerback Caleb Farley or Jaycee Horn?

Let’s dive into my final three-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft. As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
