Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks: Biggest key to victory
The Dallas Cowboys are set to square-off against the red hot Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. How can they manage to pull off an upset?
The Dallas Cowboys are going to need to start a lot faster when they arrive in Seattle at CenturyLink Field. If the Boys play anywhere near what they have the first two weeks this could get out of hand quickly.
Hopefully, with two games under their belt, Dallas is finally settling in and perhaps could find some type of groove this week starting with an upset in Seattle. The undefeated Seahawks look to stay locked in as the Cowboys are going to have their hands full with quarterback Russell Wilson
Wilson, who is an early MVP candidate, currently has an 82% completion percentage with 610 yards and nine touchdowns through two weeks. And the Seattle offense as a whole racks up 406 yards per game and averages 36.5 points.
Not great for a struggling Dallas defense who gives up 401 yards per game and an average of 29 points per game. Seattle’s offense has an advantage but you could say the same for the Cowboys offense going against an unusual struggling Seahawks defense.
Which brings me to the biggest key point the Cowboys must hit on to upset this very good Seattle team in their own backyard.
Fire away, Dak Prescott!
The Cowboys offensively must let quarterback Dak Prescott take over this football game, which he once again last week proved he is capable of. He needs to feast off this vulnerable Seahawks defense through the air.
Defensively this Seattle team has given up 970 yards in their first two games (485 average) and that damage has primarily been through the air, giving up a league-leading 831 yards so far this season (415.5 average).
On the other side of the fence, the Cowboys offense is capable of outscoring teams at will and dominating a football game. That is unless they don’t decide to turn the football over multiple times as they did vs Atlanta.
The Dallas offense is averaging 475 yards a game and 950 total through two weeks. 689 of those yards are through the air, which we can consider game script as well, and by no means am I saying to not feed running back Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys still need to run the ball effectively with the best back in the league.
But we have all seen Dallas play the run the ball, keep a good quarterback off the field style of game-plan before and it usually results in conservative play-calling and not to mention the Seahawks defense has been one of the best vs the run so far this year.
The Boys need to score at will, score first, and score fast to apply the pressure. Exploit the defense’s weakness, which I feel this week is primarily through the air and keep attacking.
This will also make Seattle one dimensional and maybe, just maybe the Dallas defensive front will show up and create some havoc and help the offense out. Again, let Dak prove he is the future of the Dallas Cowboys for a long time to come. These are the games he needs to takeover if the Boys ever want to be considered a Super Bowl contender.
