Damon Harrison, Defensive Tackle

In their Week One loss on Sunday night, the interior of the Cowboys’ defensive line got pushed around and manhandled by the Rams’ suspect offensive line. That resulted in Los Angeles rushing for 153 yards and winning in time of possession, 35:38 to 24:22.

In his debut with the Cowboys, defensive tackle Dontari Poe underwhelmed. Perhaps that’s due to the fact Poe was supposed to have six-time Pro Bowler Gerald McCoy beside him. But a quad injury suffered by McCoy in training camp ended that dream in a wink.

The Cowboys are in serious need of some muscle in the middle. And that could come in the form of the 6-foot-3, 350-pound player known as “Snacks”. Damon Harrison is a name Cowboys fans should know from his time eating up the middle as a member of the New York Giants.

Widely considered to be one of the league’s top run defenders, Harrison was traded from the Giants to the Detroit Lions midway through the 2018 season. His arrival sparked a defensive resurgence in the Motor City that help the Lions end that year ranked in the top ten.

Unfortunately, Harrison struggled to stay healthy last year. And both the Lions and Snacks choose to part ways this offseason. Still only 31-years old, Harrison could provide the type of run defense Dallas was missing against the Rams. And according to reports, the Cowboys considered him as a potential option before signing Poe this offseason.
