We could see some Dallas Cowboys taking a knee during the National Anthem this season.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made his stance clear on kneeling during the National Anthem in the past. Will that stop players from doing so in this upcoming season?

The Dallas Cowboys are probably right in the middle of getting things in place for this upcoming season. With all indications pointing towards there actually being a season, they are probably figuring out the logistics of camps, that were missed and those yet to come.

That isn’t the only thing they are right in the middle of though.

With the recent social and civil unrest in America, the topic of kneeling during the National Anthem has jumped back into the forefront of the conversation. You also have to note that it was back in 2017 when Jerry Jones said that any player that “disrespects” the flag, won’t play.

This was his way of saying that any player that kneeled, would not play. Also keep in mind that quite a few players and non-players have expressed that it isn’t intended to disrespect the flag, but to protest police brutality and inequity of treatment to people of color, while not to be taken otherwise.

While Jones’s stance used to jive with the NFL’s overall stance on the topic, that isn’t the case any longer. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said just that as he came out recently to say that the league was wrong to condemn Colin Kaepernick’s protest, per an ESPN.com story.

The Dallas Cowboys have a conundrum on their hands.

Now, here we are. In recent days, the NFL community has stated that they do indeed plan to protest as the season kicks off. When questioned about it of sorts on social media, Houston Texans great, J.J. Watt insinuated that he might be taking a knee this season in this fiery response to a since-deleted tweet from a fan that read “pretty sure you won’t see J.J. Watt taking a knee”.

While again, it’s just insinuated that Watt may be taking part himself, it definitely shows that he’s not against it either. Not to be left to insinuation and also in the same Yahoo piece, Baker Mayfield has flat out told the world that he will “absolutely” be kneeling this season.

Heck, it isn’t even just the players either. Houston Texans head man, Bill O’Brien, has said that he too will kneel with his players.

Next. Which teams are the Dallas Cowboys biggest rivals?. dark

That all brings us here. Will any Dallas Cowboys players dare to kneel this season? Will they go against the rules set forth by the owner who hasn’t said a thing recently on the matter, any of it? Even further, if they do, will they play?

It’s all something to keep an eye on, but if I know some of these guys on the roster like I think I do, we will find out how solid he is on that proclamation.
