Linebacker A.J. Klein

Sometimes it’s best for a player who’s been with a team to take his or her talents elsewhere. This is exactly what could be needed for linebacker Sean Lee who is looking for a place where he can get more playing time.

The Dallas Cowboys have invested in two young and talented players, Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith with the latter getting a recent contract extension worth $68.4 million. With both of those players on the field, Lee is the odd man out, but the Cowboys need a player that can come in if there is an injury and perform at a high level.

That is where A.J. Klein comes in, he knows and has worked with defensive coordinator Mike Nolan during his time as the linebackers coach with the New Orleans Saints which makes him an easy option.

Coaches are going to want to bring in players they have coached and Klein could be that guy for Nolan. He would be able to help Nolan in teaching the Vander Esch and Smith what Nolan is looking for from his young linebackers.

That being said Klein does bring some good linebacker play with him if the Cowboys were to sign him. He would give them a solid back up who can stop the run, an area that the Dallas Cowboys have been failing in over the past few years. It’s also an area that we’ve seen Lee start to drop off in as well with missed tackles rising of the last two seasons.
