Kellen Moore, Offensive Coordinator

The numbers don’t lie, right? The Cowboys average 437.4 offensive yards per game, tops in the NFL. Doesn’t that make first-year Kellen Moore the league’s newest offensive guru? It would be tough to make that claim after watching the Cowboys run the ball into a brick wall over and over again Sunday night in their loss to the Vikings.

Despite the success of the Cowboys’ passing offense, Dallas refused to give up on the run. Even though running back Ezekiel Elliott struggled to average 2.4 yards per carry. Those rushing woes were only highlighted by the futile effort to win the game by putting the ball in Zeke’s hands late in the fourth quarter.

In the Cowboys’ second-to-last drive to win the ballgame, Dallas elected to run the ball on second and third down on the Vikings’ 11-yard line resulting in negative three yards. And on the critical fourth down play, a designed pass in the flats to an exhausted Elliott was easily knocked down.

For all the great things Kellen Moore has done this season, there have also been several questionable calls and decisions that remind everyone he’s an inexperienced, first-year playcaller. And Moore’s on-the-job training will come at the expense of the win-loss column.
