DEFENSE

The defensive line is loaded with a mix of proven veterans and legitimate young talent. DeMarcus Lawrence and Maliek Collins are poised for big seasons. The nose added run stuffing beef with Christian Covington joining a healed Antwaun Woods.

Dorance Armstrong has made a jump at defensive end. Pass rush specialist Robert Quinn returns in Week Three. As usual Tyrone Crawford is around for a steady veteran presence. Top draft pick Trysten Hill could add explosion as the season progresses.

The linebacker position is loaded with talent and depth. Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch are star caliber players with a year of experience together. Sean Lee and Joe Thomas will lift the SAM backer to a higher level.

All four main contributors return at corner. During Byron Jones‘ camp absence, both Anthony Brown and Jourdan Lewis showed further development. This group will only look better and better feasting off a disruptive defensive line.

Free safety Xavier Woods has turned a corner and is a legitimate candidate to become a Pro Bowl type safety. Jeff Heath is back which causes anxiety, but rookie Donovan Wilson flashed so well in camp he may win the job as the year progresses.
