Tre Boston, S

For the past two seasons, we’ve been begging the Cowboys to kick the tires on Boston. All this guy does is produce everywhere he goes. But Dallas continues to ignore him as a possible candidate. There is hope, although slim, that the fact the team didn’t land a top safety in the draft that they may be open to the idea of signing someone like the 26-year old Boston.

Last season, Boston posted 79 tackles, nine pass defends and three picks for the Arizona Cardinals. Those numbers would have made him the interception leader in Dallas last year.

Mike Nugent, K

The Cowboys claim they like to promote competition across their roster, but have yet to bring in a big name to compete with one-year kicker Brett Maher. Last season, Maher ranked 25th in the NFL with a field goal percentage of 80.6. He missed a total of six field goal attempts between 30 to 49 yards.

Although Nugent is 37-years old, he did kick for Dallas just two years ago in place of an injured Dan Bailey. In his limited four-game run, he hit seven of his nine field goal attempts and all eight of his extra point attempts coming in cold midseason. Nugent is coming off a hip injury, so his medicals will need to be checked out. Regardless who the player is, Maher simply needs competition this summer.
