After one of the most unorthodox draft strategies in recent memory, the Dallas Cowboys are testing their acumen, leaving more questions than answers.

Let’s just clear the air from the very beginning. No one, not you, not me nor anyone in the Dallas Cowboys organization has any idea if the 2019 draft class will be good or bad. Certain people will be blindly optimistic about any Cowboys related because they believe fandom equates never criticizing or questioning the methodology of this team.

Others will be overly judgmental because they believe they know what’s best for this team and rarely does the front office fall in line with their way of thinking. The rest of us reside on towards either end of these very opposing extremes.

Last week, I chronicled just how good the Dallas Cowboys have been in the draft over the past four  years, specifically in rounds one through three. This weekend felt like watching the most talented person in the room needlessly raise the degree of difficulty, just to see how things might turn out.

I am not in the business of immediate draft grades. Anyone who does should not be. It could possibly be the biggest waste of time and energy in sports journalism. We will need at least three years to fairly evaluate this past draft but the immediate reaction does not feel good.

Instead of providing a grade for the draft as a whole or even each individual pick, I’m going to tell you what I liked and did not like about this past weekend.
