T.J. Johnson, Center

The Cowboys are in desperate need for offensive line depth, especially considering the fact they will be without the services of All-Pro center Travis Frederick for an unknown amount of time due to his recent diagnosis of having Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

T.J. Johnson has spent the past five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals prior to his release on Saturday. Former Bengals offensive line coach Paul Alexander is now in Dallas. Reuniting with Johnson could provide experienced depth at the center position as the 28-year old has 45 NFL games under his belt, starting five contests in the last two seasons.

Landry Jones, Quarterback

The Cowboys quarterback situation in the preseason has been terrible, with backups Cooper Rush and rookie Mike White struggling against minimal talent. The idea has been floated a time or two that Dallas needs a more experienced hand backing up Dak Prescott under center.

That makes Dallas a perfect landing spot for quarterback Landry Jones. The former fourth-rounder is entering his sixth NFL season. During that time, he’s been the primary backup for Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Ben Rothlisberger.

Jones even has some starting experience, having started in five games the past three seasons. The 29-year passer could provide the Cowboys with a more experienced voice on the sidelines for Prescott while also adding better depth at the position.
